Spam Musubi

You may turn up your nose at the mention of SPAM but we locals devour this can of meat by the truckloads. White rice, a slice of SPAM, and a sheet of nori (Japanese seaweed) are all it takes to create a tasty meal. Austin was even surprised by how much he liked it!

Hanauma Bay

A must see for any visitor to Oahu. Gorgeous scenery, swimming with turtles and fishes, and a great work out climbing up the big hill.

The Cormiers are here!

The increase in temperature not only marks the beginning of summer but the arrival of Celine and Clarice, a pleasant introduction to Austin, and a sweet visit from Payden. A lasagna dinner with key lime pie for dessert marked a successful night of entertaining.

Tea Cup and Pot Cookies

Adorable cookies for Mamo's tea party at the Hawaiian Mission House Museum.

Machino Chaya Japanese Buffet Restaurant

Can I eat $40 worth of food at a Japanese buffet? No, sorry to say but I can enjoy the company of my cousins to celebrate Imelda and Mike's nuptials.

Banana Walnut Cupcake

Ultramoist banana cake with a decadent topping-cream cheese frosting.

Honolulu Boy Choir

My handsome, talented, and energetic nephew Kamalu is a member of the esteemed Honolulu Boy Choir. Not only did I finally get to hear him sing but I also had the opportunity to visit the beautiful Central Union Church and I was in heaven.

Chocolate, Chocolate, and more Chocolate

A Barefoot Contessa episode inspired Kamalu, Anna, and me to create our own chocolate treats. We dipped everything we could find in the pantry and had a blast!

Tutti Frutti

Cheaper than Menchi, just as tasty! Anna especially liked the strawberry and orange poppies that burst in her mouth as she spooned a bite of yogurt with her favorite toppings.
