Animal Sugar Cookie

Dawn and Will's baby boy is turning one and a big celebration requires a sweet, cute, and colorful ending.

Pumpkin Pie Pancakes with Apple Butter

Couldn't wait to make this recipe from Candice Kumai's pretty delicious.  Lovely cookbook!  Healthy with unsweetened applesauce and almond milk and indulgent with the apple butter.  Everyone loved it!

Miso Gorgeous Glazed Salmon

Expected pow but got bam instead.  Did I marinate it long enough?  Was it missing something?  A blend of miso, red wine vinegar, honey, and sesame seed oil was disappointing.  At least it was healthy.

Ginger Soy Baby Bok Choy

Great side to the Miso Glazed Salmon.  Loved the ginger taste so much that I added choi sum too!

Chinese Style Green Beans

At $1 a bunch I couldn't resist.  The Chinese style blend of oyster sauce, sesame seed oil, and shoyu made it flavorful and aromatic.

Summer Lunch

A breezy, sunny, gorgeous day for a lunch of vegetable soup, lasagna and tea cookies.

Rosemary Chocolate Chip Shortbread

An odd combination of rosemary and chocolate chip was not well received by others but I liked the sweetness tempered with an earthy spice.

Spice Cookie

A blend of cloves, all spice, nutmeg, and cinnamon produces a dreamy cookie but the filling of cream cheese and apple butter makes an even sweeter ending.

Cinnamon Rolls

Whew!  With all the work and time needed to make cinnamon rolls, I'd rather go to Cinnabon and save me all the trouble.  Nevertheless, they were delicious-buttery, sweet with extra glaze and crunchy from the pecans.

Judy and Sanford

I look forward to my sister Judy coming home and when my brother in law Sanford accompanies her, it's an even happier occasion as we all gather to welcome them back.  Sanford's fish dish was "broke da mouth"-tasty, light, and flavorful.

Strawberry Picking

Pretty, red, ripe strawberries begging to be eaten.  These give me a great excuse to make strawberry shortcake.

Magnolia's Banana Bread with Coconut and Walnuts

Dense and surprisingly good with shredded coconut.

Coffee Gallery

I used to enjoy having a slice of something sweet with hot chocolate at Coffee Gallery located in Haleiwa... until now.  Unfriendly service, steep prices ($2.95 for a slice of banana bread) and not so fresh banana bread.  This experience inspired me to make my own banana bread.

Miette Banana Bread with Nutty Streusel

Delicate in texture, this is more of a cake than a bread full of banana flavor.  The streusel makes it even more yummy!

Apple Tart

My husband always requests this as his birthday cake.  Magnolia Bakery's apple tart is delicious but time consuming to make-prepare tart dough, blind bake crust, fill with apple filling and bake again. This explains why I make this once a year.

Potato Cheese Gratin

You need a hearty meat and potato meal to refuel after a day at the beach.  Anne Burrell's potato gratin was simple to assemble, pleasing to the eye, and a delicious complement to meat loaf.

Happy Birthday Averiana (4) and Ajaylah (2)

Dance Island Recital

Pretty girls in pretty tutus!

Xanadu

Xanadu, the movie was a flop but the musical is a hit!  Get out the dove shorts, head bands, and leg warmers and enjoy yourself at Xanadu, the musical at Diamond Head Theater.  Great music, acting, and dancing, even with roller skates.
