Nigella Lawson's Chocolate Chip Cookie
I hate nothing more than wasting food. Nigella's recipe called for 1 egg and 1 egg yolk. What do I do with the white? I threw it in anyway. Not too sweet and a perfect ending to a busy weekend.

Mummy Cookies
Scary. Scary good! The combination of chocolate and royal icing embellished with candies ranging from licorice to jelly beans. Just in time for a spooky, sweet Halloween.
Miette Cheesecake
This recipe calls for Miette's graham cracker crumbs but due to lack of time and energy, I was compelled to use store bought. No cause for disappointment. Texture of filling was smooth and light. A lovely cake from a lovely cookbook!

Ice Garden
No lines, no crowds. Are they the reasons for the owner smiling which is a rarity or was it our big smiles as we dove into our refreshing frozen treats? The mochi balls are to die for!

Side Street Inn
Tasty local food served family style. We ordered every dessert on menu and the bread pudding was declared the
winner.
Mexican Meal
Fish tacos made with beer batter, Spanish rice, guacamole, chips and fresh tortillas bring back memories-Scott surfing in Mexico during college and our trips to Ixtapa and Ensenada.

Albondigas (Meatball) Soup
It was literally a "whatever you have in your kitchen" soup so I threw in mushrooms, peppers, watercress with the required carrots, onions, and zucchini. The meatballs were "strangely" healthy and delicious-a mix of ground turkey, cumin, uncooked rice, cilantro, parsley and an egg. The family gave it a thumbs up!
Wahiawa Botanical Garden
It's been years since we visited the garden. A recent renovation and the start of fall break were enough encouragements. I just wished my blue ginger looked just as good as theirs.
The Giver
One of my favorite books was presented at UH Kennedy Theater. Well put together-outstanding cast, excellent back drop, and an ending that keeps you thinking.
