Rainy Day Soup

With cold, rainy weather brings heart warming chicken noodle soup.

Mango Bread

Scott may have a fear of mangoes due to allergies but that doesn't stop me from making comfort food. Fragrant, just enough sweetness, and nostalgic of my childhood summers filled with mangoes.

Brrr.....

The chilly temperatures make me want to move to a sub tropical area! Wait a minute, I AM in the tropics! It's been freezing in paradise-60s, windy, and raining.

Pastels

The class that my friends are taking inspired me to create my own art work using soft pastels. Not as easy as it looks but very relaxing. The layers of colors and smudging technique produce an image I am quite proud of!

Art

I am surrounded by art! My school neighbor Larry is an award winning teacher who brings home more awards than any school, public and private to Leilehua. My dear friend Maha is a sculptor and painter who has generously shared her pieces and a Honolulu Academy of Arts instructor conducts pastels classes on the weekend.

Lemon Buttermilk Bundt Cake

Was it coincidence that my new bon appetit featured a section on simple desserts just as I was wondering what to do with buttermilk reaching its expiration date? Moist interior beneath a crunch crust. Simple, decadent, lemoney, outstanding-YES!

Bagel Sandwich

A post from Oh Joy blog inspired me to create a bagel sandwich of my own. Grilled turkey sandwiched between melting cheddar cheese and fresh egg picked the same morning from Petersen egg farm.
